02/25/2007 | Beating the Retreat

This is Beating the Retreat at Horse Guards Parade. We were lucky enough to be given tickets. Beating Retreat or Beating the Retreat is a military ceremony dating back to the 16th century and was originally used in order to recall nearby patrolling units to their castle.

All the Home Guard Bands join together as a massed band. It was great especially as we knew some of the musicians.
