02/25/2007 | Champs Elysees on VE Day
The Champs-Elysées, literally the "Elysian Fields" is a broad avenue in Paris. With its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops, the Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets in the world, and the third most expensive strip of real estate in the world (first in Europe). The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology. The Champs-Élysées has been called La plus belle avenue du monde ("The most beautiful avenue in the world").
