This memorial said "This cross is reverently erected in the memory of McIan chief of the MacDonalds of Glencoe who fell with his people in the massacre of Glencoe of 13 Feb 1692 by his direct descendant Ellen MacDonald of Glencoe August 1883. Their memory liveth ever more.
