07/23/2007 | St Swithins Shrine
St Swithin was a humble guy and an early Bishop of Winchester. He wanted to be buried outdoors so the sweet rain could fall on his grave but in 971 they moved his final resting place into the newly consecrated Winchester cathedral and what followed was 40 days of downpour, a sign of St Swithin's displeasure. On St Swithins day (15 July) if it rains it will rain for 40 days and this has held true this year.
